Baker Hill Fire / Rescue
ISO 5/9 Rated · Barbour County, Alabama · Always Ready
🔥 Fire Suppression · Wildland Attack · County-Wide Mutual Aid
The Baker Hill Volunteer Fire Division is made up of roughly 20 dedicated community members who answer the call whenever it comes — day or night, on duty or off. These aren't career firefighters collecting a paycheck. They're your neighbors, volunteering their time to protect the county they call home.
From structure fires and vehicle accidents to brush fires and county-wide mutual aid, our volunteer firefighters train to the same standards as career departments — and respond with the same urgency. We sponsor Firefighter I & II certification through the Alabama Fire College at no cost to our members.
ADD DESCRIPTION
The department's primary fire suppression unit, capable of structural firefighting, heavy extrication, and BLS medical support across all of Barbour County.
High-capacity water tender for rural operations where hydrant coverage is unavailable. Critical for sustained suppression operations in Barbour County's rural areas.
The ISO rating reflects the overall fire protection capability of our district. A Class 5 rating within 5 miles of the station and Class 9 beyond reflects our apparatus, training, water supply capabilities, and emergency communications infrastructure.
This rating directly affects homeowner insurance premiums in our district — meaning our investment in equipment, training, and personnel has real financial impact on the community we protect.
When another department needs help, Baker Hill answers. We provide mutual aid across Barbour County and beyond.

We invest in our members. Every volunteer gets access to world-class training at no personal cost.
We sponsor Firefighter I and Firefighter II certification through the Alabama Fire College — completely free to our members. No experience required to start.
Our members train on the Alabama Fire College's Apparatus Operation Simulation Trailer — hands-on simulator for safe, realistic driver/operator training before getting behind the wheel.
All interior firefighters are trained and medically cleared for Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus operations — required for any structural interior attack assignment.
Regular live fire evolutions keep our crews sharp and ready. Hands-on suppression training is the backbone of a competent, confident fire crew.
